Cheers its a long way off yet but I like others to plan ahead for me .Some of the ferry bookings are full already.

Had orders we have to get off the bike more and have a walk round some of these places.Yup . And Ponferrada.
You’ve marked my post with aStop now lads. Lets not be getting our knickers in a twist on a Sunday morning.
Think happy thoughts.

In that case , perhaps you need to change your modus operandi. We often have 2 nights in a hotel, and have a day off the bike in the middle doing tourist stuff. It works for us as we get to see stuff without having all the bike gear on.Had orders we have to get off the bike more and have a walk round some of these places.
And we all think that Udders is needy and likes to be the centre of attention.
Everybody meet Doc.
Yup.You’ve marked my post with aand you want me to have happy thoughts on a Sunday morning?!

Yep, in my book that’s important and would gladly do that every 2-3 days. As much as I do enjoy riding my bike, I also enjoy getting off it for a while and seeing places, this in turn does allow me to judge the place for any possible future visits with my wife for example or a central location to my possible future jaunts.Had orders we have to get off the bike more and have a walk round some of these places.
That’s better.Yup.![]()

JB, for some people it makes all the difference.
For example my wife. It was not a pleasant experience for her on our Portsmouth to Caen crossing in 2017.
Not having a window it made her feel exceptionally anxious and disorientated about not knowing which way was the bow or the stern, especially when she opens the cabin door into the hallways and it all looks same. In her mind, the window also there for her escape (i suspect it ain’t that easy to break it) should she had to, if the boat went down. I know it all sounds very dramatic and over the top. But there are the types people who can’t cope with these issues and thus lie in bed all night with eyes wide open. She will sooner pay a bit more for the cabin with the window and at be able to sleep.
I suspect (presumably) that Doc’ Boss is in same category of people.
We are all very different and what might be overly easy and doesn’t make you blink an eyelid, makes for a harrowing experience to others. Being aware of others and their mental state, who are travelling with you after-all isn’t a bad thing.

Yes having recently done a few of the one night stops we got a bit fed up of it.In that case , perhaps you need to change your modus operandi. So we have a two night stop to pick and we are sorted.
any hotel recommendation? I know there is a Parador down in the valley. There's a decent looking Pousada in Plaza Mayor on top of the hill by the castle
I love travelling far and wide, but I am also slowly realising, that it is much easier to have a base or two for a few nights and simply do day trips from there in any direction that takes your fancy, it makes me feel like I am actually on a holiday rather than charging 250-300 miles on back roads from one hotel to the next, whilst trying to beat the clock. Arriving at the said hotel completely worn out whilst seen nor have I experienced nothing else, other than exhaustion.Yes having recently done a few of the one night stops we got a bit fed up of it.

Pulling into the town, parking up, having a spot of lunch then a little stroll around the place is something I do like to do. Plan ahead and you can actually lock your gear in the top box/panniers.
