Doc wants to add Spain to his Doc does trip reports

If you're on your Indian you'll find the section Cuenca to Santa Eulalia very hard going. Better divert a little bit via Albarracin - and you'll wish you'd booked a hotel there! :)

Why hard going ? Also why a hotel ?

Bits of that road are hardly more than lanes plus lots of hairpins ...
Albarracin is fabulous and a shame to pass it by seeing as you're so near :)

Ok. But the roads will be the same to Albarracin ?
Plus can they be any worse than the French Alps ?

I'm thinking of one short section through Guadaviar and Griegos. OK you could just lump it but the detour to Albarracín is glorious 👌
But you could turn back northwards before Albarracín (or just opt down the road for a coffee and look see) onto the A-1512 and rather than go to Santa Eulalia and onto the horrible N-234 follow it right up to Molina de Aragón, one of my favourite rotes in the whole of Spain which is saying a lot!

OH, I've just seen your final route and you're missing out on that area entirely! Oh well, maybe next time :)

Difficult Simon trying to do everything but i will take a look at your suggestions thanks.

Best Spanish segment I ever did was from Ceres westbound on the N260. Eventually ending up in Pamplona. Good roads, not much traffic and then went north to Banca to a good hotel that was worth staying in.
2 good days riding.

A few years ago we left the HISS heading for Jerez and Simon gave us some tips - we weren’t disappointed, just saying.
Enjoy your trip - Spain is, truly, one of the best countries to ride a bike in the world.
🍻

Noted Steve
Is it a good time to to mention the duty free fag shops
Always a good time.;)

Another nice hotel (on a lower budget) would be the Penas Arriba...
Just a few miles from Potes if you like a more traditional and quieter place.
There's some awesome day trips from Potes, have a look at our video
The ferry from South England can be super busy and super expensive
Last autumn, one of my riding buddies nipped over to Ireland, and did the ferry from South Ireland to Spain - it worked out cheaper. Might work for you being a Northerner 👍
