Dodgy Clutch or what?

Hey up
My mates 1150 ( with 50000 on clock) developed clutch slip so being the bloke he is is swapped the clutch ( a Barst Job for sure ) After riding for only 10 min with the new clutch fitted it all started slipping again. any ideas please would be welcome - he says it slips in most gears

Did he just replace the friction plate, or the whole clutch unit ??

if just the friction plate, he's just learnt a lesson on how not to save £60 .

it maybe the shaft. Does he do a lot of wheelies, and "quick away from the lights" type of acceleration. It can cause the shaft to "slip". The inner shaft spins in the outer shaft, as it loses grip - Same symptoms as clutch slip.

I assume he checked that the oil seal wasnt leaking and cleaned all the area out between the gearbox and engine casing.
Other than that make sure he has adjusted it correctly, should be some techno bits on here about that , do a search for it, good luck

1150 = hydraulic clutch, no adjustment needed .

As Dazco said....was the cause of the original slipping proven not to be oil contamination from a dodgy seal ???

oops didnt think about hyd'clutch , what a duffer lol whatevernext?
Is there no adjustment needed then at all with a hydraulic operated clutch?

Hello again , Me mate says he has swapped all the three plates and spring so I supose he will be in for the w/e whilst he swaps the seals eh. Should have gone to GSpecksavers ( techo section first ) Thanks for all the replys

Don't replace them if they aren't leaking

It would have been obvious if there were any leaks when he changed the previous clutch, especially as the new clutch is slipping within 10 miles. To slip that quick due to oil contamination it imagine it'l be covered -

Take the starter motor and look at the friction plate.

Also pull the rubber gaitor back on the paralever joint, and look for lots of black rubber dust, if so, it's the shaft drive spinning -

Wizard had a heart stopping moment on his new 1200 ADV with a slipping clutch. It was just that

He's pulled back the rubber ( oooo errrrr Missssis ) and low and behold, balls and dust ( rubber ) I ant heard of any problems like this, which isnt suprising to me !!. The previous owner of the bike was a rather Lardy bloke who did wheely a lot ( and he was very good at it ) Question is now - What the F do we do now - surely owt cant be as bad as the dredded clutch swap - Or can It ??? I know I keep saying it but thanks again Steptoe I will oil yer neck when I get to meet yer Mick

New drive shaft i'm afraid. Here to help
