Has anyone noticed a dodgy paint/laquer finish on the rear wheels of the 12GS? Obviously if you have the rufty tufty spoked version as opposed to the sissy girly cast version this wont apply.
I noticed an area of about an inch that just didnt seem as clean :( and when I took it SLM today they took one look at it and said they would order up a new wheel straight away :D and that they hadn't seen or heard of this before.......... anyone else got this problem?

Had a new one fitted on mine (couple week ago) whilst in for alternator etc @ 3700!......

They'd ordered it in for their demo bike.. which has same prob!!

I reckon the fronts'll go the same way!! ...

PS there's a thread on ere somewhere bout prob!!

At a guess, the problem is the new EU rules on solvent emissions and the fact that they now have to paint with water based paints.

My BM car has had areas of laquer peel off the surface - looks a bit like the effect of paint stripper, but it isnt. In the case of the car, the cause is bird shit. And BM dont want to know - they say you should wash it off immediately. And if you are away for a week or two - tough titty. Infuriating

So these paints arent tough and will be affected by acids, solvents etc. Maybe the stuff you cleaned the wheels with?
