Does anyone have a truly waterproof jacket? BMW aint!!

I've had Rukka suits for the last six years or so, first and SRO then the Armax. Both great suits, fantastic feeling being safe and dry - but they both leaked eventually. Sorted out under guarantee, yes - wouldnt buy anything motorcycle related unless it had the backup, but it did take a few months each time (I think Trans Am - the Importers - are a bit of a choke point).

Although I still use the Rukka every day and rate it very highly - my best tip if you want to stay dry is to buy a pair of army surplus gortex trousers and top and wear those over your normal riding gear. You'd look like a tw@ in green camouflage, but you'd be a dry tw@! They're easy to get on/off too thanks to being oversized and having elasticated hems.

Hi, I have had a hein Gericke suit now for 7 years, want to replace it, but what with?

Stupid question maybe but - Why the f*ck would you wanna change after proving to your own satisfaction that Hein Gericke really does what it says on the tin :nenau

Good luck on your quest :beerjug:

HG Master V suit - never leaked and been through some real downpours - Goretex is on the outside so doesn't soak it up either

Just shelled out for a Master V suit as well :thumb2 Got soaked going to Llangollen wearing Dainese 'goretex' kit :(

Got 20% off at Hein Gericke as well ( good timing) :)

Surprised the b-em suits leaked , what kind were they?

Seriously, they must know the outers are not waterproof, but the goretex is ?

Me too, never got wet when the inners were in my Savanna / Santiago suits :)

Decided to go the oversuit route though as stripping off the trousers to get the liners in is a bit of a faff when out on the road. Especially if it's a motorway

Hein Gericke Daylite Voyager. It has never let in rain. I live on the west coast of Ireland where rain is manufactured in LARGE quantities every day, brilliant jacket. Pity it's not made anymore. :tears Good luck with the hunt, if you find a good jacket please let us know. :thumb2

Had my Hein Gericke Jacket for about 5 yrs still waterproof and very warm, the plastic they use at the top of the neck has cracked though.

I have a rallye II jacket as well, i just use that as the best summer jacket you can get, its to cold for me in the winter.

I have HG goretex - bone dry (if it ain't broke, don't fix it?...).

However I have an 1100 - might not work on a 12.

I have a Harley Davidson rain suit, top and bottom, it is totally water tight, and well tested in Malaysia's tropical monsoon season for the past 4 years. It is lines but is not amoured. Because the rain is so heavey here it has on occation got in up my sleaves becaust my gloves have become saturated, and a couple of time down the back of my neck.

Made in the US I think, and a good bit of kit.

had a BMW tourguard for last four years, used daily in all weathers and never leaked, great bit of kit, just a shame they have stopped making them, however the streetguard is basically just a shorter version

i've got a hein gericke waterproof voyager - but if i get caught at work in monsoon rain - cos when it rains here it really really rains hard.

what i do is get a bin liner out the cleaning cupboard, fold it in half lengthways - cut the corners off for arm holes and half an ellipse from the middle for my neckhole - open it out and its an instant waterproof cut-off

i kid u not - 100% waterproof and instantly disposable :D

of course, there is the slight possibilty i may look like a complete twat, but i'm not sure. :bounce1

Aerostich Roadcrafter - fully waterproof if you fasten it right - had it for nine years with no problems.

Daytona GTX boots, again fully waterproof - even after 12 years!

I have a Klim Powercross Gore Tex jacket which I love and hein gericke goretex pants. Hope to get some Klim Dakar pants for the summer months from www.adventure-Spec.com. The HG pants are great in the wet and cold and have been wearing them everyday.

I have a HG paddock jacket with waterproof liner and a BMW Santiago and I use the liner from the HG jacket. Trouble is with the HG and BMW jackets the outer gets soaked and makes you cold anyway whereas the KLIM jacket keeps you dry from the outside. There is also room to wear full body armour underneath and in the winter I supplemented it with a down jacket too. very toasty :D

waterproof jackets

Had HG for 7 years, excellent. Went for Rukka this time and great re weather although not as warm in winter as HG.

other point the sleeves on Rukka are velcro over the gloves, HG was zipped, zipps were better.

if I was to choose again I would go HG but it is a close call with rukka

Spidi Tour S5

Fantastic ... and it matches my '07 adventure and contrasts my BMW khaki Summer 2 pants nicely  I usually wear light weight waterproof trousers as required ...

I've worn this jacket in conditions ranging between freezing cold sleet, torrential rain, and 35 degrees of Spanish heat ... it's beautifully made with well thought-out pockets and a detachable quilted lining, which can be worn separately - overall it's a very smart jacket.

A top granturismo product thanks to its exclusive materials and developed in the male version as well as in the Fit for Lady version. Features one of the highest insulation factor ever for a motorcycle jacket. The external mix of materials is a 3 layers, laminated Toray fabric and a H2OUT Teflon treated waterproof and windproof membrane. Inside, a new style of quilted lining equipped with many pockets and with anti water intrusion areas. This lining can be worn as a separate item. The jacked is also equipped with air vents, reflex areas, volume adjustment Ergofit system, groin straps, waterproof pockets and, most importantly, the new Biomechanic CE protectors to guarantee great comfort while keeping high safety standards, coupled with a 'Warrior series' back protector already in place.

Hi, I have had a hein Gericke suit now for 7 years, want to replace it, but what with? Two mates have bought the BMW suit and troos and both leak like a leaky thing, on way to europe last year, mate was soaked in an hour, last week coming back from North West 200, other mate was soaked in less, had to borrow a nylon oversuit to keep dry. Is this the norm??
So, anyone got a BMW suit that keeps you dry?
Anyone tried the Alpinestars touring suit, new out.
Or do i stay with Hein Gericke?
Cheers me dears, ta.

It might help if you told us which BMW suit?

If you mean Rallye 2................then you're maybe correct

However the Streetguard series Goretex is truly 100% waterproof and the Atlantis 3 leather series is good too
