Dont touch a Vat Free Ktm

VAT free/20% off - surely, that's the best time to buy?

Sell yours privately for 10-11k (bargain) and buy the bike you want heavily discounted.
I don't see the problem.

Erm

The arse has just fallen out of the used KTM 1190 & 690 private values

Yes but then the arse (as you put it) has fallen from new values too.

So how can you sell your used bike for £10-11k privately, then?

Like you suggest in your post 20

You can't have your cake & eat it if you are selling a used KTM to buy a Vat free discounted KTM ?

If you are moving from a used KTM to another (non discounted brand of motorcycle) then the current vat free campaign on new KTM has severely affected the value of your used KTM bike and thus the gap to a new BMW or Ducati or Honda has widened further

I thought all this bollox was the preserve of boring old farts in the WBM section and people like that was one of the main reasons I went Orange. Please don't start bringing your WMB bollox into here.

If you can't afford one (and that includes depreciation ) don't buy one.

Me, I bought a KTM 'cos it's a fecking hoot to ride and one of the best bikes out there bar none. End off :)

At last Johnny Boxer has grasped my point (cheers) this is the wider repercussion of what they have done,BMW are pre regging like mad but if I rang another franchise with a 2000 mile 1000r they would still want the bike,KTM dealers cannot handle whats going on and the guy who bought a 1190r for £11000 you wont lose up to £7000 like I have as good as the 1290SA is no fucker wants it dont forget as well they have reduced a 2017 SA by nearly £800 and Euro 4 with slightly higher spec you generally get bit once

Ive had 4 KTMs in the last 12 months but like the second rate dealers you have the same fucking ignorant attitude forums are for everybody not just the same drivel and shite that you come out with on a regular basis, If i want something I will buy it no problem Ive never complained about any other bikes depreciation this is something else and because it isn't affecting you why give a fuck

Tbh the 1290 SA was not a great seller for Ktm so the kick in the bo11ox was always going to happen, it just happens it's going to hurt even more now, it's even harder to sell the SA privately unless your giving it away for peanuts .

When you bought your KTM(s) the GBP was probably much stronger than what it is now. I think you just need to suck it up, get back to the dealer and thank them for protecting the consumer from the market fluctuations.

Not often I drift in here but that seems to have hit the nail squarly on its head.

Well said Andres. I bought a brand new 1190r 18 months ago and its an absolute hoot of a ride. I will be keeping it a long time as i know the trade in value would not be great. Only way imho is to buy new and ride it into the ground.

Using the criteria of a bikes residual value to decide what bike to get is a bit like buying cheap bog roll !

You cant put a value on fun

My comments weren't aimed at you but more at a general ethos and attitude towards buying bikes.

However, since you seem to want to make it personal you of all people, Mr 'I bought 4 KTMs in the last year' should have seen it coming, it's hardly rocket science now is it?

So, no sympathy from me, now fuck off :)

I'm sure my 1190R has lost a binful, but it's worth it :D

ps. Crescent have a new one up for list price in their showroom. there's a board listing bikes getting the 20% off, but the R is not on it, so fuck knows how much they want for it?
