Hi All,

I just bought a BMW GSA 1200 08 the other week and so far I have clocked up over 100 miles and I'm loving it. Next Year I'm planing on a trip with my girlfriend and friends across the Pyrenees and the Alps into Italy so all the riding experience possible on the GSA the better.

I feel now I'm ready to start trying a little off roading / green laneing and i was wondering if there are any Dorset GSA riders out there who would like to meet up and show me the ropes in the local area.

Thanks

Chris

a few of us get together at the horton inn, first thursday of the month.

no current off road riders amongst us though. far too sensible :)

Thanks for the information I'll swing by in September and pick your brains etc :thumb

Hi Chris,
Good to hear you want to have a go at off riding. You could sign up for one of our Cotswold ride out - these are suited to big traillies and we can give an hours "introduction" guide before embarking on the trails.

Hopefully hear for you soon.

Have a quick look at the site and the Cotswolds Ride outs and introduction are free. We do other longer - 2 to 3 day rides in Wales as well.

Hi Burt,

Sounds Good, I will be up for this for sure but not for the next few months as work is mental and I don't know what weekends i can comment too just yet.

As i said i have a GSA with the standard everyday road tyres, whats the norm when you go on these weekends. Purchase a pair of off road tyres and get them fitted before the weekend and ride up with them fitted etc?

Thanks for the info

Chris

Best of luck with taking the GSA off road. I intend to do some off roading at some point, but will get a little trail bike to learn on. Can't afford to bin the GS off road.

If you look down through the South West posts you'll see some ride-outs over Salisbury Plain. From what I understand there are loads of tracks over there.

As far as tyres go if you intend doing quite alot of off roading I would suggest getting a spare set of wheels and just swapping them over. Some people ride on TKCs all the time, some use road tyres off road. You'll just have to see what works for you.

Cheers Rik,

I will look into the tyres thing, buying a new sell of wheels is a lot to layout..

:)

Hi Chris
I'm in Poole and always up for some mud but not on my GS its far too heavy to pick up forget 2 sets of wheels get another lighter bike
