I have a 2018 GSA, with the BMW top box and panniers.
I also have (purchased from here) the pillion seat conversion to luggage rack (77_0546 - KIT, LUGGAGE RACK, PASSENGER SEAT).
My question is:
Could I mount a Vario top box on the pillion seat luggage rack with the BMW aluminium box in place, would it fit and be able to be used ?
Reasons: the use of hard metal luggage is discouraged when assisting in cycle race marshalling and the BMW top box is a little on the small side to carry all the gubbins. I could use a soft top box or some other box which is longer (ideally not wider).
If anyone else has better suggestions as to how to carry and easily access items without panniers, I would be interested in hearing them. Cost is an issue as the setup wont get used more than half a dozen times a year. I will be keeping my BMW pannier and top box system for now so
I know I could consider vario panniers as they may not be classed as hard panniers (not sure as they are metal sided) and as far as I know they won't attach to the BMW scaffolding.
