Downsizing rear tyre

New tyre time for my G450X. Standard fit is 140/80 but I have a 120/80 Metzeler Unicross ready to go on. Will this be a bad idea? Any reason why a downsize should be avoided?

Often a narrower rear tyre works better off road and I doubt you'll notice any difference on tarmac with that bike.
