Drive saft play

Hi again, i am still trying to find out where my noise comes from.

Does anyone know if it is normal for the drive saft to have the following play?
The side that is connected to the engine has play frontwards and backwards (If i push and pull the drive saft), the other side that is attached to the rear drive does not have play.

The drive saft itself looks ok (has no play at its universal joints and thw splines are ok).

Yes, the drive shaft to gearbox connection is secured by an internal spring clip (sort of like a circlip) which locates into a groove in the gearbox output shaft. You can just see the groove in this picture of the output shaft:

This connection has some natural play. if you grab the shaft and push / pull it, you will feel 1 or 2 mm play.

I guess as this circlip looks ok, this is not the cause of my problem....
