I'm sure of you are already familiar with dropbox already. Its a very very cool little program which allows a number of computers to have a folder synchronised across them, across the internet, fully automatically and it works seamslessly for PC's, Macs and Linux.

It works just as a folder on all your computers (even at work) and anything you put into that folder is automatically copied to all your other computers running dropbox into the folder of the same name on those computers. Kinda like the USB key of the future if you ask me :D I've been using it a few weeks now and its absolutely magical and super super fast.

I use it mainly so that I dont have to bother transferring or e-mailing work documents home to work on them. I just copy them into my "dropbox" on the work PC and as soon as I turn on my home PC those files just appear, and vice versa. Makes life very simple.

I still dont believe its available to the public, as its in private beta, but should be out pretty soon. If anybody wants to try it, then please send me a private message and ill send you an invite (each user has 10 invites to the private beta).

I have been using dropbox since last year. Really recommend it for anyone with multiple computers, mobile devices... I fly home next week, leave my computer here in the office and get all my files at home on my laptop there dead handy... Go to a client need a file log on through the net and download your file... dead handy. Or like Wapping share your mapsource file through your public folder...

www.dropbox.com if you sign up mention me... richie at cluin dot com and I can get some extra space for free...

I have used it for a year or so now. Another handy use I have found is that some of my IOS Apps use it to synch data. I can update my Finance Account app on my iPad and backup from within the program to the iPad and dropbox at the same time. Its then very easy to restore the latest Dropbox backup to my iPhone from within the app.

If you are a cheapskate and don't want to pay for extra dropbox space then you can get a free 5GB from Sugarsync too. Works in much the same way.

As above been using it for ages. Also available for iphone/android. Inviting new users ups your free allowance. 250mb per sign up to a total of 8Gb on top of the 2Gb start.

it's a a very useful thing, but a bit of a pity that the pricing is:

2GB - free

or next step up

50GB - $99
