Dropped Helmet

Comment?

Oh my God, the paint has lifted off, the exhaust fumes have got in, it's delaminating as we speak. Some people just got over it and carried on riding.:blast

This was the very reason I was asking for genuine assistance and trying to use the vast experience often shown on this forum.

I know you were but that subject (of dropping helmets) often results in numerous hysterical get-rid-of-it points of view. Although I've always tried my hardest to avoid dropping them, every helmet I've had over the past forty years of riding has been dropped, some more than a few times. It was only a few years ago that I eventually bought my first new helmet, always content to have a second-hand one. I've even glued on peaks, added stickers (Oh my God, won't the glue melt the GRP?) and often rubbed them down and painted them (Cellulose? Jeez).

I've been down a few times, and am still here to tell the tale. It can't all be down to plain luck, can it?

Look at MH's picture. Nowadays he'd have a full face helmet, a neck restraint, armoured body suit, inflatable airbags, ejector seat, sat-nav, carbon fibre gloves, etc, etc.

When I was in The Job, every motorcyclist fatality I attended was caused by a broken neck or internal injuries. Not one through head injuries. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but there are far more important things to worry about.
