Turning left on a steep side street T junction with feck all visibility nearly stalled it and lost momentum. The road just dropped away to the left so the bike went down.
My fault for being timid (maybe) but to rub salt in the LHS rocker cover hit the kerb and cracked.
Has anyone got a replacement 08-09 rocker cover. The one with oil filler cap. No worries if it's marked but must be crack-free.
The earlier GS/GSA covers might also fit but need advice on that.

Thank you.

Sorry to hear that bendy ,don't be to hard on yourself there a big old lump of a bike.
Did 1200 mile around ireland last year fully laden with camping crap & 2 up not a problem ,3 weeks after we got back I dropped it in a pub car park just around corner from the house :nenau go figure.

Thanks Rocketman I had no chance of stopping it falling but these days I don't even try. As you say it's a big lump of metal.
The kerbstone corner hit just above the spark plug tunnel so it's got more cracks than Jordan's make up.
I've soaked it with laundry liquid then I'm off to get some epoxy putty. I'll open the cracks with a Dremmel to give the epoxy chance to bond.
The spark plug cover is also damaged but it's not easily visible.
I'm planning on fitting some carbon fibre covers so the repair alone might be ok.
It's looking fortunate that I'd not just fitted the carbon. .

I had one do it, don't open them up just force it over the crack... Clean with neat petrol first and alow to dry...

This is when engine bars are worth there weight in gold.

No damage done:thumb2

Just took two of us to pick up as was laying downhill.....:blast

Note fully loaded topbox & panniers plus tent and gear strapped to pillion seat.

On side, done.jpg

It even broke the road!!!

Ouch!!!
I'm not convinced by engine bars the forces have to go somewhere. I guess the road was a wuss. :)
My petrol tank bars are bashed but not bent so they did their job. The standard engine bar is gouged but seems straight. The LHS has no space to get bent.

What I need is a side stand on both sides. Aircraft have retracts why not bikes?

!!

I used to read on here about people dropping their bikes at a standstill and then not being able to pick it up again......well now I no longer think your all a bunch of wooses. I dropped mine at traffic lights down near Gap in France and ooh lala I could hardly pick the big pig up! :blast
So now I understand.:jager:D

Sorry I don't have a spare rocker cover but I feel your pain :D

I can strongly vouch for the protection that the bars do I was knocked off at 60 and they did the job of saving the bike from being written off

Engine bars are no protection from a sticking out rock or a sticking out kirb... Great if your going to throw it down a flat bit of road and fuck the pannier to boot...

Heh- I dropped my RS airhead and broke my achilles tendon picking it up. Odd how it's put on weight over the last thirty years! :D

It's GS it's supposed to be dropped. You're not trying hard enough if you don't drop one.

I'm pretty sure there are not many here that do not have the badge of honour, given out for picking it up, and hoping nobody noticed, which also is not possible as it's a GS and everybody notices.
