Ridding at the weekend a couple of time my DRZ seem to cut out... rather like when it needs to go on reserve.

It didn't need fuel
It was being used on a constant throttle
It seemed to clear if I gassed it

Any ideas?

Turn the fuel off and drain the carb. It sounds like there a bit of water in there.

Do you mean drain the carb by running the engine untill it stops or by taking the carb apart?

I've done 150 on the DRZ and already I've broken the chain and I've got water in the carb... Never had that in 60,000 on my fuel injected GS

Wreford, you drain the carb by removing either the whole float bowl or just a drain screw. It is worth taking the bowl of to see if there is any crap inside and clean it.:thumb

Try this

You could also try the following:

1. Wash it, it was looking very dirty.
2. Paint it orange, orange bikes don't cut out.

Wash it ... it'll only get dirty again on the next ride mines still wearing the crud from Saturday

Orange ones may not cut but they use more a lot more fuel.

What was it for 75 miles
DRZ 4.5 lt
KTM 450 5.9 lt
KTM Super R 7.5 lt?

I have owned one for many years, so my advise is:

1) remove the screw in the lower part of the carb and let the liquid piss off for a while.

2) BUT THIS COULD BE THE REASON : if you ride standing on the pegs, it may be that you touch with the left boot the side stand. As soon as the stand is lowerd for a few millimeters, the sensor cuts off the ignition. I did remove in mine the sensor switch and perfect since then.

GOOD LUCK;)
