DRZ handlebar grips

I've just fitted some Renthal bars and Scott grips to the DRZ. I can't secure the left grip using my normal method of applying hairspray. The bar is knurled so I assume there's not enough surface area for the spray. Has anyone encountered a similar problem or got a solution please

Length of stainless lockwire (or similar) tight around the grip at either end.

Get a grip.

Try a smear of silicon rubber compound.

Contact adhesive, but don't wait for it to dry slide it on as soon as you put it on the handle bars, renthal sell grip glue but thats all it is contact adhesive such as evostick.
