Bennetts Insurance are telling me they will not insure ( can't find any underwriters) a DRZ 400 I am buying unless it's got a Thatcham approved security device fitted.

Any recommendations as to what is the cheapest option? All I want is Insuranc. Don't give a fook about security really? ( Can't change Insurance peeps as only recently renewed):tears

Thanks in anticipation.

ABUS granite u-lock. at least thats what i put down and i'm with bennetts.

Maybe depends on where you live:nenau

Cheers. Area is pretty good and other 2 bikes just insured with Bennetts is a very good price. Just seems like they don't want to know as soon as I mention "DRZ 400"

Try a different insurer (like ebike).

Greg

Originally tried e-bike at renewal time but boy are they expensive these days. Quoted over double my cheapest quote.

But also. :-

Its worth phoning them again.Iv'e done that before, gave them the same details and recieved a lower quote for some reason.:nenau

How strange.
I recently added a DRZ400 to my insurance policy.
No Thatcham, no problem.
In fact Thatcham never cropped up in the conversation.
Policy is with Bennetts.

These bastids work in mysterious ways don't they. Cheers, I'll be having another telephone conversation with them then.

As per P.M. eco..LOL !

For the benefit of anyone else, I sorted my Insurance out by having to take a separate policy with Aviva...£112. That was taken out 5 days after I bought it and as I say I live, no lived in a decent area...and so it was some Sheffield twat broke into my garage and nicked it...2 hours after I'd insured it.!

I never even got to ride the fekkin thing

Got to give Aviva 10 out of 10 for settling within a fortnight even though I expected them to wriggle out of what even to me looked a suspicious claim.

The coppers also waived the speeding ticket "I" got on the DRZ after clocking 40 in a 30 just up the road at a very similar time that the theft was estimated to have occurred :blast. Got a very clear photo of the **** that stole it..."but we can't show you Sir. Sorry"

Thieving Yorkshire bastids. :D

Blooming eck, what a nightmare!
Hope you get the bike back, in a reasonable state.
Was it locked up in a garage? I wonder if it had been worth getting that thatcham lock after all...?

Trailered the bike from Bristol (Peejays) on the Friday. Got home Friday evening, straight off the road and up the drive. Bike off trailer and into the garage next to the GS and 'Bird. Left there all weekend locked up as busy. Garage at the rear of the house out of sight from the road. Bike moved outside the garage on Monday just for access and then back in under lock until Thursday morning when the Sheffield fucktard came and ripped the hasp and lock off the garage door and removed the DRZ. This happened whilst my son was sat upstairs on his laptop :blast

Obviously knew what he wanted and came kitted up for it.

Who knew it was there?

Me. Just me ..Oh yea, and father and son roofer working on the Old Dears house next door on the Monday only. That's all.:blast Police say that aint enough to go on as it's tantamount to accusing them of stealing.

I gave up on ever seeing the DRZ the day it was nicked. Obviously I hope the bastid kills himself in a most horrible fashion whilst riding the DRZ. Opps that's another thread aint it. ;)

Thats them just being lazy.

Its their job to be nosy and annoy people. Especially if they are thieving tangs.

Hope it all works out for you.

Of all the bikes I have had I think the DRZ is the most nickable. Its ammazing how many kids come up to me when I park it up and say how nice it looks. They don't bother with my other steeds.

The SM model has a certain alure around town. And its damn good fun.
