Does anyone recommend anywhere in particular for buying service parts for a DRZ-E. I was going to try Leisure Trail over in Derbyshire becuase I believe they used to import them many years ago.

At present I just need plug and filters ( probably the same as an S so I guess my Suzuki dealer is as good a place as any) will also need a new C & S kit eventually and I seem to have a 'notch' at the dead ahead in the steering. Not sure if the head race bearing need replacing or just moving and repacking ( not a job I've ever done) .

I've seen this full bearing kit on ebay for £55.00 I assume thats quite good value. :nenau

Oh I've yet to see a Haynes manual instock anywhere either, are these hard to come buy?

Any pearls of wisdom? Anybody sold their bike but got parts lying around in their garage they want to turn into a bit of cash ? :thumb2

Brake pads, spark plugs, sprockets and oil filters are readily available from eBay (chains too!!).

I used to carefully remove my air filter, wash it in paraffin, then in soapy warm water, dry it and re-oil it before using again (and again).

Oil from your favourite supplier. Bearings can be obtained from many sources if you know the bearing number.

But the DR-Z 400E is a current production bike. Every Suzuki dealer should be able to get whatever OE parts you require. I used to get mine from Metropolis in Vauxhall.

Thanks for the links & tips guys ............popped into my local Suzuki dealer this morning and picked up;
oil filter £3.55
oil drain plg washers 47p & 61p
sprk plug £6.64

and ordered the Clymer manual as recommended by Baldy. They sold the last one in the week; it'll cost £22.00 :blast

The steering head bearign are common to all the 400s and cost £26 each for the upper and lower bearing. Didnt want to spend £52.00 without checking out the links above properly and will also strip the front end out first before I guy.

I bought the bike off some guy Timpos knows and its been incredibly well looked after, the guy bought it new, with very little use . The pads are fairly new but a new C&S will be on the cards shortly. I've been talked into doing the Ryedale this year so I want it to be tip top for that.:thumb

Rushy, www.wemoto.com as mentioned has plenty of pieces available to keep the DRZ on the road.
As for the steering, this is a common issue. There is very little grease in the headstock from new.
The headstock needs to be drilled and tapped M6, then fit a grease nipple and fill the void with grease.
The only issue with doing this is the trtail 'S' version has a hole in the yoke spindle for the steering lock bolt to engage into. The grease eventually will worm it's way down there on to the top of the mudguard. But some does lube the lower bearing just fine.
Your bike is the 'E' so you won't have this problem, so get the hole drilled.....

Timpo.

Noddy , Timpo thanks for the wemoto recommendation.

Head bearings, if I need them , are 1/2 the price of the main dealer prices;

Tapered Headrace Bearings Set @ 25.93
Tapered Headrace Lower Bearing @ 17.12
Tapered Headrace Top Bearing @ 17.12

Someone else mentioned to me that some people fit a grease nipple to the headstock but thats not something I would want to do myself as I dont have the right kit. Can you recommend somewhere that might do it? I would imagine its something that a light engineering company might do for me but is there a particular spot that it should be drilled or would it be sufficient to just pick a sensible spot somewhere between the upper and lower bearings ?

Noddy , Timpo thanks for the Wemoto recommendation. +2 :thumb2

I picked up a DR350 on Monday, saw your post & ordered a chain & sprocket set from Wemoto the same day. They e-mailed yesterday infoming me it was on it's way & everything arrived today with a little bike digest magazine & a key ring.

Wemoto now saved in 'my favourites'
