Nearly, re-read the Fast Bikes article where they fitted Roadsmarts to the GS / MTS / Tenere and decided I would go with them this time. TR91's were £200 and Roadsmarts £205 so made the decision very hard.

Anyway fitted them yesterday and the first thing which is obvious is how much more rubber they put down, also the profile is better, especially on the front as it wraps around much more - no good if you want small chicken strips, but handy if you are concerned about riding off the edge of the front tyre.

Once scrubbed in a bit (Like any new tyre they are awful for the first few bends) they feel great, possibly as much down to the placebo effect of knowing there is a bigger contact patch and you cannot ride of the edge of the things.

One thing that was very real was how warm they got, a short gentle(ish) run to the outlaws on a cool day left them feeling warm and sticky to the touch, more so than the Tourance EXP's ever got even on the warmer days we had recently.

The Toruances were scrubbed almost to the edge on the front RHS and with about 5mm on the left - I know there is a huge difference in lean from almost to the edge and off the edge of a tyre from doing track days, but the Tourances have only done winter riding mainly on bumpy / gravelly / pot-holed country lanes, they would concern me on perfectly surfaced grippy Alpine roads - partly due to potentially being able to run off the front tyre and partly due to the nature of dual purpose tyres.

I think the lack of movement from the tyres blocks also make the bike feel a bit more stable and helps with that "hinge in the middle" feeling the bikes can give turning in / changing direction. They also make the bike feel a lot firmer (enough to get me to wind a couple of clicks off the pre-load)

Not gone far yet, but really looking forward to chucking the bike around on these tyres.

Had a pair with around 6K km on my 1150 and was thrilled, got my GSA start of the month and fitted a pair as well, have done now around 1K km on them they are brilliant, they work even better on the 1200 GS, they stick like nothing else, really smooth cornering without any kind of "steps", they perform brilliantly on wet or dry, on bad roads and on good roads, no noises, no handling issues even in top speeds.
Allround I would describe them as the best pair I used on the 1150 (have used Anakee which I really didn't like, Tourance which was a really nice tire) I would position them at the top for road usage and probably behind Tourance's for off road usage (although I am not the guy who rides oftenly off road) they managed to perform quite ok on a 5Km of loose and wet gravel without any kind of issues.

Ok, thanks blokes. That'll be my next choice I think ..... :thumb
