If you had a couple of hours from 11am until drinking time ... what cultural delights are there to see in Dublin? :nenau

And maybe a couple of hours on a sunday whilst recovering from a hangover and waiting for the plane to go home? What's a good place to spend a couple of hours :nenau

The Guinness Storehouse is reported to be worthwhile, but I haven't been there myself.

If you are not squeamish I would recommend a visit to St Michan's Church to see the "mummies". :)

Deep in its vaults lie a number of bodies that have barely decomposed because of the dry atmosphere created by the church's magnesian limestone walls. Their wooden caskets, however, have cracked open. Revealing the preserved bodies, complete with skin and strands of hair. Among those thought to have been mummified in this way are the brothers Henry and John Sheares, leaders of the 1798 rebellion, who were executed that year.

I haven't been since I was a child, but I do intend to go back again some day.

You'd have no bother at all in putting in a day or two in Dublin Tom. :thumb2

Only my own personal opinion but the porter sorehouse is a load of oul bollox. Unbelievable bullshit (literally, if you know anything about brewing). There's
a fantastic heritage with the place but very little is explained. The view from the bar is ok but the smithfield tower is better and something that you can do on Sunday.
Kilmainham gaol http://www.kilmainham-gaol.com/ is well worth a visit but take a pinch (or a shovelfull) of salt. Real history there. National Gallery http://www.nationalgallery.ie/ is good if you like old pictures. Gallery of Photography is a nice spot depending on what's on http://www.galleryofphotography.ie/.

The Book of Kells in Trinity College for some culture, followed by pints in Kehoe's, The Stags Head, The Long Hall and various other establishments.:beerjug:

You could do the Viking boat trip around the city on both land and water.

Visit Christ Church.

Hit up the visitors centre, you'll get loads of ideas, really depends on what your into though. National Gallary and the likes are worth a look to.

Oh and then theres the Military exabition in Collin Barrack, Think its called masters or commanders and cheifs. It's free in and covers the Irish at war home and away. Both the Irish defence forces and Irish serving with other countries. It's very interesting.

Did you know the Irish once invaded Canada  :D

What the weather forecast for this weekend in Dublin town? :JB

Looking forward to a couple of bottles of Guiness on Saturday night :JB

Hate to tell you this but they don't let you shake the mummies hand any more...
