Wanted Ducati Monster Wanted

I wholeheartedly agree about the 1st gen Multi. Just learn to put up with the looks and you have a great road bike. Yes, I’d go for an 1100S if time and budget allowed but the 1000 is still a great bike even with its noisy air cooled clutch. They’re all a bit long in the tooth so be picky.

True story - After a Saturday night on the piss I returned home and started perusing ebay :blast ....A week later my 800 S2r was delivered. Mine was the really coooooool one with white wheels. At first I was a bit worried about reliability but it ran perfectly over many many miles. A great bike - :beerjug:
I think it’s only people who haven’t owned a recent Ducati, that tell you they’re unreliable. My 620i, I think it was an ‘02, struck my by how well engineered it was. Never a moment’s trouble and a really engaging motor.

Yes the GPR exhaust sounds lovely and weighs very little.
Mine is a 2012.
I am keeping an eye on the ads for a used pipe as new the price is a bit salty. Looking for an SC Projects pipe but that GPR looks great. TBH I think the std pipe sound great, love pop on the overrun, but would like a better looking pipe as long as it's not too noisy. Somebody on https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/forums/ bought a cheap pipe from aliexpress and is really happy with it so considering one of them as a low cost option

Mine came with stock and GPR exausts.
The GPR makes the stock one feel so, so heavy!

Your assistance is required in my search for a bike as I have been away from biking for a couple of years, due to work and home life commitments.

Having recently lost my younger brother who introduced me to biking (will post a separate thread on this) in honour of his memory i have decided to get back on two wheels this year.

What am I after?

Having never owned a Monster, I quite fancy one, partly due to the riding position which is suited to London riding.

Will consider other bikes, maybe an early Multi, anything with a V twin.

budget is between £3500-£4000

Thanks in advance, what you got gathering dust in your garages guys?

Looks good.
Why would you have to upgrade starter wiring?

Why would you have to upgrade starter wiring?

No idea. Mine has a slightly flaky starter button. It works but you have to press it hard. I must strip to switchgear to see if it can be improved, but on the other hand if it's not broken ....

Exactly.
My 2012 is fine I'm glad to say.

I think that's something to do with putting a better (thicker?) cable from the battery to the starter motor, maybe because it can carry more current to assist starting.Several people have done it.
