Hi everyone, first post here! I bought my GS new last june after a break of about 8 yrs from bikes ! Must say i am very happy with it, even tho my previous bikes were sports bikes, it goes well enough. Went on my first decent run of the year on wednesday, up to Applecross, 385m round trip, which took my grand total milage for 10 months of ownership to a staggering 2505m !!! Anyway when i got home i was shocked to notice the rear battlewing with under 2mm tread remaining ! Thinking about going with pure road rubber, read some excellent reports about the dunlop roadsmart, but the dunlop website says the GS sizes are still under development.
Anyone know when they will be available ?

Try some continental road or trail attacks, trails have a deeper tread :D but both road rubber imo :thumb2

Do a search in the 1200 section, there was a thread on the very same subject notlong ago. AFAIK there is still no date yet?
In the mean time I went with Avon Azaro/ST combo. Have tried a few combos over the years and these are light years ahead of the rest - give em a go, really are very good!

Think i'll phone my tire man on monday re the roadsmarts, i'll let you know the outcome, he only deals with bike stuff so should know the score.

I like the sound of the road attacks, but seen a pic of em fitted to a gsa on another thread and thought they looked a bit , well, gay.:hide

I have the Road Attacks on the GS and so far they have been excellent for both dry and wet grip, comparable to the 020's I had previously but look like they will wear much better than the Bridgestones.

Would be interested to hear when the Roadsmarts are going to be available for future reference.

Thats why you need the Trail Attacks, more of a manly tyre all round :augie

well i suppose if you want non-gay tyres that don't work its your choice

Roadsmarts are great rubber :thumb2 I fitted those to my Triumph Sprint ST last year and done about 6k miles since 2/3 of which 2-up and they still have 2-3k to go. Excellent grip even knee down (on Sprint, not tried on GS yet). Because the bikes are approx. the same weight and Sprint tends to eat rear tyre too they should get you good mileage on GS with extra grip compared to your current setup (once they are available).
Roadsmarts will be my next tyre choice 100%.

Had a look outtomuch, interesting posts, hopefully the dunlops are out soon, will find out tomorrow, if not gonna look at the conti's and the avons. I've chucked out the bloody Bike magazine tyre test unfortunatly, never mind, dont want to get to anal about it anyway !!:beerjug:

BTW cant believe i got such a poor mileage from the original rear, especially as the first thousand miles were dead steady running in the bike !:(

Ok, just spoke with my tyre dealer, the roadsmarts are listed on the price list(fr£89/ r£118) when he phoned Dunlop to order the front he was told they are not going into production until May (was going to be April, but been delayed). I can only assume this means we wont get them till June.
Think i'll stick on a rear just now and hope the fronts will appear in May/June !

Excellent. I'm hoping these are as good as they claim/review; sound like good replacements for PR (fr) with PR2 (r).

Good news:) Roadsmarts have now, just this week I believe, become available in GS sizes. Had a pair fitted today and very nice they look too :thumb2
Now off to scrub them in :D:D

Fit like Pipeliner??

How many miles did you get out of the rear tyre? Just curious as I am changing mine at 6k - I have BattleWings too.
I did think about trying something else, but the 'Wings are good.

Great stuff :)

Let us know what you think of them once you've got some miles on them.
