Folks

I have just returned from a trip to the Atlas mountains.
I have downloaded all my pics but a lot of them have an annoying mark on them, created by a speck of dust in the camera's internals/shutter.

I dont use photoshop etc but is there some simple software i can use to get rid of the mark on each pic (about 60 pictures in all) ????

Thanks all

Mac or PC

Picasa should work for you and it's free.

Depends on the camera, and the file type. If you're using a digital SLR there's a good chance the manufacturer's image processing software includes a dust-off function: you take a picture of a blank white sheet as reference, and and specks found in the image are used by the software to eliminate similar spots from all other pics.

Nikons do this via CaptureNX, but only if you're shooting RAW. Check your manual, you may be lucky.

If you download a 30 day free trial of Adobe Lightroom you can clean up all your pics in one go. Lightroom is a very comprehensive bit of kit, and is capable of removing dust spots from all your images in one go.

Simply (!) import all your pictures, then select one of them, zoom into where the dust spot is, and click the spot removal tool on the spot. Lightroom will figure out how best to cover the spot. Then select all the photos you imported and click the sync settings button (bottom of the right panel), and click the spot removal tickbox, and it'll apply the removal to every picture.

Like I said, simple(ish)

What photo storage software do you use (if any)? Also is this on Mac or Windoze?

Thanks for the help guys.
I will try and get more time tomorrow for the above.

I am on windows and the camera is a nikon d50.
The software I use is nikon's "Picture project" which im guessing is 6 years old perhaps (It came with the camera)
