just got back from France.Took some great on bike footage with my DVD VIDEO CAMERA.Is there a way of transfering the footage from the camcorder to the computer.the camcorder is a panasonic vdr-d100 it did not come with any software,I have tried downloading the software from the panasonic website but still can`t get it to work

I'm new to this stuff myself.

What I have learned is that the format in which it's saved is important.

My Sony HC came with capture software that I have to use before it can be edited into something else.

I guess you need to get the Panasonic software before you can go much further.

I'd try plugging it in via a usb port and see if you can 'capture' using windows movie maker (if you've got that) although you may still need a driver but you can't lose anything trying.

Erm........if it's on dvd as recorded by the camcorder, why can't you just take the DVD and stick it in your computer?

If you do that, what file format is it in? (What's the extension after the name of the clips?)

Or am I missing something here? :nenau

Stick the DVD in the ocmputer, now open my computer. Right click on the DVD drive and then left click on explore. You should get a screen with a load of files probably with the extension mpeg2. Choose one or all of them and then drag the chosen file(s) on to your desktop.

You do have a DVD player or rewriter in the compter ????
