It's not a BMW part - the OEM one is a security Torx, which is a pain in the arse since the seat has to come off to fill the tank.

Is it the same security torx as on the HP2 Sport? i’ve been trying to do the same, replacing with a dzus for ages, but never managed.
The bottom plate doesn’t match.

There is a thread in here somewhere.

I've bought them on ebay in the past
Looks like it needs a 26mm fastener, according to a thread I found on ADVrider. Can’t find that so I’ve ordered a 25mm one and the clip it fits into on eBay, from speedy fasteners.

I’ll report back!

Seems likely. The thread was probably mine, just having another go at it!

I'll follow then.

This is the HP2 Sport plate (left). Dzus plate on right, doesn't fit.

Well, I ordered a 25mm Dzus fastener with d ring start retaining clip and the receptacle - the thing the Dzus fastener clips in to.

As above, the first receptacle didn’t work as it was too small and kept pinging off, but it does work, with about 2mm of spacers (washers) added between the hole at the top of the seat and the Dzus d ring.

It only works, if the receptacle is fitted upside down. I note there’s a 6mm receptacle which can be screwed or riveted in place, which may be a better bet.

I’ve order a bigger 25mmx25mm receptacle first, and will report back

Well, progress of sorts. The new receptacle fits really nicely, but what I need is a fastener with a longer stud - probably 31mm. Speedy fasteners only go to 25mm, so I'll do some more searching but I'm pretty confident if I can find one it will work
