Hi it's been a while since i have been on here.. And quite possibly my question has been asked and answered by others. And i will get a stream of sarcastic commentsas a result . But here goes.
My bike has been laid up for a while because I have moved to Spain, my life has now settled down to a point that i want to register the bike there..
Whilst in storage rats have been munching on the wiring.. Quite extensively.. All repairable but still a PITA.. the only saving grace is that most of the wiring relates to things i have to undo to get it legal in Spain.. Led indicators drls running lights.. Etc. Quite what to do about the Hid hedlamp conversation i don't know. But i digress.. The electrics i can sort.. (someone did kindly provide me with details of an automotive electrical supplier that had bmw connections etc whilst i rebuilt the bike a few years ago i would be grateful for it again.
But
The main event is the damage caused be storing it with E10 fuel.
It completely stripped off the epoxy coating in the tank (it was dipped and coating in the rebuild)
Pretty much everything in the tank is goo. All the tubes fuel pick up.. The "O" ring was eaten and fuel.. leaked out bubbling paint where it touched.
So barring the obvious "don't use E10" what are people doing? I now live in small village. 1 fuel station bo E5.. (my garden tools are also a full time maintenance job)
So getting to the point.
Can anyone share me part number for a suitable alternative pump ideally E10 ready that will fit in the cradle.. (i don't have the budget for a whole lock stock and barrel swap) i want to refurbish my internals using E10 tolerant bits. The "O ring"i hope are now fuel safe.. What additives arw people using to defend against my scenario..
I am sick as a pig.. The bike was pristine i was hoping to keep it that way.. And annoyed that despite cursing E10(in my tools) I totally overlooked the bike.. And the fact i put 5 litres of E10 into it to ride it out of the removal lorry!
