still looking and it seems the early evo bikes are silly money?
are they really that collectable? surely there is no room for the prices to keep climbing, better value to be had in a big twin i reckon

So buy a big twin then.....

And I’m not sure “collectible” is right...unless you’re talking really really stuff?

trouble is a big twin is just that a bit big! big for the space i have and i think for what i want maybe a bit ponderous? i looked at a 96 superglide which was a private sale and was very nice but a grand to much and he wasnt shifting on price one bit,a sportster just appeared on ebay a nice 1200 but six grand! for a t plate

Look really closely at details like the frame welds on a sporty and you'll be even less inclined to part with £6k.

I'd still like one - just not at that money.

I’m not sure that my Dyna takes up any more space in my garage than my Sportster ...... and it is certainly not “ponderous”. The Road King, however takes up more room. 6 grand for a ‘99 Sportster? Way too much unless it’s very, very special. Last Sportster I bought (a mint 2003 Sport) was around 4.5 K from memory.

I sold mine for £4.2k in March this year.. had quite a few people trying to buy.. but I was happy with the price .. I then cleared £600 selling all the shit I’d unbolted from it...so £4.8k in total.

tell me about it,the 883 r is a good looking bike but i fear i wouldnt fit, hence looking for something with forward controls although tbh i have not sat on an 883r !
the 6k 1200 evo on ebay at the mo is really nice and what i think i want but 6k is too much

Post 04 are a little larger frame wise - pre 04 bikes are pretty scrunched up - main reason I sold mine...

thanks for that info,i thought i would like the xr1200,went down to sykes harley and sat on one and omg what a ridiculous riding position and no padding on the seat to speak of so crossed that off the list of possibles
