I'm told there should be an earth wire attached to one of the bolts holding on the fuel pump assembly. I don't see one on mine, a 2002 1150gs.:augie
Should there be???????

There are three wires in. One positive to the fuel level sender (blue/white?), one live from the motronic (green I think) (when the criteria are met, like not in gear etc), and an earth. On the inside of the assembly, one positive goes to the pump, one to the fuel level sender, and the single earth splits to both the pump and the sender.

Does your fuel pump have only one wire attached then?

The earth wire you mention is only on the very early plastic tank 1100GS.

Cheers Mate, that makes sense, thought I was loosing it.

Monkeyboy,
It was the outside of the unit I meant to say. Manual shows an earth wire fastened on to one of the threaded pins which hold the whole unit to the tank.
