East Anglia Monthly Meetings?????

East Anglia, Monthly meeting's???????

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Guy's,
After re locating up this end of the country, :thumb apart from getting use to no hill's!:(
Is there such a thing as Monthly meetings in this area??
I am already missing the South West Monthly meet's, there must be other GSER'S in the area (apart from Steve) and if some one could suggest a good pub for Monthly meet's with Camping or Bunk rooms?????
Spring is just around the corner!!!

A few of you may know me from the GSCLUBUK Site (Shrek) but I am not in the Business of looking for new members, I have owned my 1150 since 02, and just looking for like minded people to carry on the good social meetings we have had in the southwest in the past, the idea is find a good pub with camping, put up the tent, a few beer's, decent meal and a good chat,
Any idea's?
Mikethebike has suggested Duxford area so will try and check out at the weekend

Welcome to the area. If you spot a hill do let us know. Expeditions have been sent out to discover the rare Fenland Hill but none have ever returned which has lead to further rumours of Fen Tigers...

Next ride out from this area is on Sunday 28th -

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217302

Simple ride out between 2 points 20 miles apart which, magically, becomes approx 150 miles and stops for tea/bacon butties! 5 counties included (I think) so good introduction to the area.

"over-night" meets have been discussed within these pages before but not sure if anything came out of it. Perhaps it just needs an someone with experience to kick-start it off...

I know Chad and myself have both mentioned getting the odd overnight together.

I'll take on the co-ordination for the first one. Best way is to just go ahead with a date and see who fancies joining in so here goes.

Saturday 14th May.

Lets have an indication of interest and then I'll put up a fresh thread. Could someone make a good recommendation for a suitable campsite/bunkhouse to use. We need to get moving as places tend to book up fast. Easiest to book individually but we could try reserving some places.

How about the Suffolk Coast, somewhere around Dunwich/Aldeburgh way? Lots of nice country around there for riding. Infinite chips available.

Welcome.

Isn't the 14th the Friday? I only ask cos I'll be at the NW200 and I thort the saturday was the 15th...?

Any hoo, I'll have to miss this inaugural session as a result, but might be up for another time.....Enjoy! :thumb2

You're right. Doesn't say much for my organisational skills does it?

Saturday 15th May would be better.:D

Hiya Gazz, welcome to the area mate. Will pm you my phone number, be nice to have a get together without the two days ride there and back. :D

April

Nice to see a good response,
What about kicking this off in April? 10th or 17th? also the BMF at Peterborough is on the 15th May and a few of us will be helping out with the
GSCLUBUK stand,
I have found this pub which would appear to have all that's required for a good night, (have not had a chance to recce yet though)

Waggon & Horses

Me and Mikethebike,
Checked out the pub yesterday, nice pub, good food, nice location, only down side (could be a bonus) is the camping field at the back is basic field only, use the loo's in the pub (or cross your leg's over night!) not much of a problem for a one nighter, but if there are any ladies attending it may not make them feel comfortable,
On that note I plan to introduce a girl friend to the joy's of camping over Easter Weekend!!!!, so I need more of a 5 star camp site so that she can keep some of her home comforts (like hair straightners!)
So can any one Pleeeese suggest a really good camp site in East Anglia, to impress a first time camper, preferably with a decent pub in walking distance, Norfolk Broads? Crommer? Great Yarmouth? (other wise this may be her 1st & last night under canvas!!!):(

Saturday 17th

Me & Mikethebike,
Will be there for the Saturday, it's a good place to kick off Monthly meetings,
We could always try a different place each month, until we find the best local & amenities, if a camp site is too popular we may run into problems if we get more than a few bikes turning up,:D

I tried Clippesby Hall last Autumn and I was VERY impressed. Some of the nicest wash / toilet blocks I have ever used at a camp site, and on-site pub serving local ales and good value food. I would recommend the place as being girlfried / wife friendly, apparently biker friendly and nicely located.

Hope that appeals to you. :thumb

It is rather (ahem) pricey over Easter, but it should please her indoors.
