Easter Monday Run To Fort Wilhelm

I don't know what happened to my bike. I had bother going down the box, especially going down from 3rd to 2nd, 2nd to 1st. It only happened a few miles from G.C.s pub. Me and Stumpy then set off from there to go home. (Me with my fingers crossed.) Reached the north end of Glencoe and she just wouldn't go into any gear below 4th. I was heading up though Glencoe (praying that the temporary traffic lights would be in my favour), sitting in top gear and she just cut out on me. She wouldn't restart. :nenau

Mind you, people have broken down in less specatular places...

...I then sat in the front of this van for the 3 hour journey back home. The VW van had over 350,000 miles on the clock and drove like a dream. My BMW bike has 21,000 miles on her

"Dear Herr Volkswagen,
Have you ever considered making motor cycles... :mmmm "

As it turned out it was a relatively quiet affair which is unusual, normally it goes onto about 5am, so we played golf at Gleneagles on Monday which was braw :D

Whats the story about your bike then?

Looks like a fun time was had by all, well almost all. Hope your bike gets better soon Ronno. Interesting pictures, if that's the level of "off road" you partake in, I could cope with that, as long as I don't get too dirty!!
Hopefully I can join you on the next one.

Thanks to Gordon and Ronno for organising this day (yesterday).
I got home about 8.30 and jumped into a bath. I was freezing - BMW goretex suit or not, I was freezing - even with it being quite dry and sunny down here. A quick scout of the site last night and then off to bed exhausted. 460 miles all in - a good day out using the bikes for what they are meant for.
Nice to meet all you chaps & Mrs Mart-P.
Ronno - I do not think that I am going to ever come out to play with you again. The last time I did it, something went wrong with your clutch at Lochearnhead IIRC. It is for your own good. I do hope that there is nothing too major about the gearbox. If it is any consolation, and it probably will not be, I had to save up for 4months to get my clutch fixed. :mmmm

Charles, You do remember correctly and the thought had crossed my mind that you were a bad omen ;) :D but perish the thought. You're much too nice to be bad news for anyone :thumb

4 months saving to get your clutch fixed? I thought that was what Church Roof Funds were for :D

..oh, BTW 460 miles is a goodie...respect :bow

Passed an impressive line of GSs 5 miles from the Green Welly heading north yesterday - I assume that it was you guys out to play. My son and I had a cold night camping at Resipole campsite on the Arnamurchan peninsula and were heading south and home (great campsite but ice on the tent is no fun!). We were on a rather heavily laden 1150GS with what looked like an impressive collection of bin bags attached to the rack.

The pictures and tales of your trip were impressive and think I will sign up for the next one.

Cheers :bounce1

Credit where its due, Stumpy planned the trip and asked me to find a suitable forest type track for a gentle off-road bimble. Ronno started the thread.
Hey, we help each other out, that’s the way it should be.
I know that Stumpy has a plans for a lot more runs this.
PhilM I didn’t stop to take pics on the more “interesting” muddy sections, I find it helps if you maintain some momentum in these bits.
We can do harder if you want. :bounce1

Rev Chuck, I hope the FRB detour was worth it ;) good to see you again.
In fact it was good to see all of you again. I enjoyed the day.
