Try the search function. Lots of posts about ebikeinsurance, generally good.

Got my Carol Nash ins renewal thru.

Fired up the pc, got a quote from e-biker on the screen.

Phoned CN and said "I'm looking at a quote from e-bike on my screen and it's a LOT cheaper than you................"

Bit of "Can you hold", a few questions and ended up paying £30 more than the e-bike quote, but when you add in the European breakdown that CN do and that E-bike don't, bit of a bargain I thought.

Pays to 'phone.....................Altho if they hadn't dropped their price I woul dhave gone thru E-bike and sorted out a European breakdown cover scheme

Got my renewal in from CN it was £196 fully comp, eBike gave me a quote of between £102 & £116 fully comp depending on what voluntary excess I took, £102 was £500 voluntary, £116 was zero voluntary excess with a £175 compulsory xs, I know who I'll be going with :D :thumb

Greetings Jon, that just goes to show how much we were being ripped off in the first place if our old underwriters can suddenly knock a huge chunk off the policy costs. EBike have rocked the motoring insurance sharks, basicaly existing companies are saying "thanks for letting us shaft you for x years, we now realise there is competition and we will have to reduce our huge proffit margine....." I'd of told them where to shove it, as indeed I did last July.

I was in a hurry and just wanted the euro breakdown.............might change next year :D

The funny thing was they'd changed my policy supplier and then suddenly the original one came in with a lower quote...............

Lets face it, they try and stitch you for whatever they think you'll pay and unfortunately a lot of people do..........good on e-boke though.

I just put my details into ebike and it quoted me £90 for 3rd party! The equivalent in ireland is costing me €630! Lads, you have it handy in england!

Think about where you ride

Carole Nash renewal quote £269 fully comp, reduce to £242 when I told them about ebike. The cost from ebike = £161.50 with £200 voluntary excess.

Big, big saving on first glane.

However, cost of European breakdown to cover a 10 day trip £53.50 (AA) and 5 day trip to Eire £33.70(AA). So the saving is wiped out.

Beware if you do intend to travel abroad. I still went with ebike as I may not actually get abroad this year but if I do get a couple of trips in I wont have saved any money.

MCN Insurance survey

In this weeks comic a good article on insurance. Worth the £1.70 just to see who is offering what. Mines not due till August but will again be looking for the best multi bike policy.
