I’ve recently bought a lovely, used Cube Touring Exc 500 Ebike.

However the Service indicator is showing and so far all I can find indicates that only dealers have the software to extinguish this, update the control software and if possible upgrade the motor power ( not chip it ).

Anyone know any different?

Thanks
Rich.

I have a Cube Stereo and I believe I have updated via the app on my phone. But not had a service indicator yet. 🤔

My 2023 Cube Kathmandu updates over the air via the Bosch app but my pals similar model which is a year or so older does not

The Bosch power upgrade is in the torque figures only and applies to the latest Gen 5 motors....

All the updates on my bike have gone through via the Bosch flow app....

My bike is a late 24 Cube reaction but with a Gen 4 motor so no upgraded torque for me... to be fair, I very rarely use the upper levels of assistance.

The display on the bike says nothing at all about a service being due, but the flow app on my phone shows it to be something like 7 months and 800 miles overdue. I ignore it as I do all my servicing myself... motors require no real work beyond ensuring they're water tight..

Thanks chaps, unfortunately mine is a 2020 model so no phone app, looks like a trip to the bike shop at some point.

I have a Cube Cross 500. Not sure if its a 2019 or 2020. Done 8000 miles so far and only had one software update done by an indy dealer. I ride with the little spanner indicator lit up and just ignore it. I think the update cost about £30 a few years back. Only other costs I have had are for tyres and a chain (which snapped!) Had a look at the brake pads a few weeks back and they still have meat on them.

Our bikes are both Bosch (2020 and 2022) - you can get the bike shop to set the next service to 999999 (or whatever is the highest interval) so the Service indicator never reappears.

Not found a third-party app to play with this yet. But maybe an independent bike shop might help?

These new overthought technological nightmares, called e-bikes are taking the fun out of cycling, I can recall my youth when braking meant placing your right or left foot onto the spinning back tyre to bring your bike to a slow controlled stop. I think possibly done, due to worn out rubber brake pads.
