Next weekend folks. I am marshalling at Hartington again, 06.00 on Saturday, until they get through by about lunchtime, sometimes teatime. It is a good stage to watch and there is parking, plenty of parking for motorbikes. I shall go on the X Country and might even try the section myself, the rocky steps, if wet, are rather treacherous on normal tyres - and the trialists are limited as to what tyres are allowed, no nobblies, even Pirelli MT21s are not permitted, something about the block tread pattern and size of the gaps.

Whereabouts exactly is the Hartington section? Location via what3words would be useful if you can manage it

Whoa, whoa , Mister Rat. "Edinburgh" you say, then in the next breath Hartington. I know both but they're nowhere near each other so for the benefit of the uninitiated.....some proper details please.

I thang yow😉👍

Start of green lane that leads to the section - only competitors. Is: shapeless.wire.prank

Opposite car park footpath to the esction behind shop is: squeaking,slid.punks

Get me trying to use what3words! Those are close enough. NB Park require bikes to pay for parking now. Unless you can tuck in somewhere and walk from the village, obviously those with a gammy kneee will have to free some moths!

I believe it's the Edinburgh trial again this weekend,other than kingrats suggestion above, any other viewpoints or idea of the route covered.
Fancy a ride up this weekend to have a look.

@FERRET and others....

Times have changed. The start is from Rowsley South steam train station, about 0.7 mile towards Darley Dale from the junction of the A6 to the B road that goes to Chatsworth. Where the A6 does a right angle left (N bound).

Trials tyres are a popular choice, running at 10psi or less. A lot of trail riders in Devon use them as they are well suited to the terrain in those parts....

If they pass scrutineering - specifically advised AGAINST for the long distance trials because they fall apart on the road sections and will NOT pass scrutineering. No scrutineering token, no sign on, no competitor number and no road book! So however popular they are for weekend jaunters, they are specifically forbidden for these competitions.

I used Pirelli MT43s on two of my bikes doing the Lands End trial several times and rode down from Nottingham and back.

Tyres were absolutely fine and lasted a good long time after too. Just sayin'!!
