I'm off to the Eifel for the first time on Weds for a couple of nights. I'm a little confused as there seems to be 2 areas, the National Park (near Monschau and Simmerath) and Vulcaneifel (near Daun). Which one has the better riding for a couple of days (twisties, surfaces and views)? Any road recommendations gratefully received. Thanks

By way of simple example, here is my Eifel / Hunsruck / Mosel folder in MyRoute:
The folders in the upper part also break down into route files. Here’s a sample of what just one of the folders holds:
I have never counted them, but I’d guess over 100 routes. Which route or group of routes is ‘best’? Who knows.
In short, grab a map and chose a spot, preferably on a crossroads with a hotel to suit you.

I personally prefer the Vulkan Eifel. Quieter, less touristy and roads are fine. Just my opinion
We are there with our local riding group at least 3-4 times a year. I can give you hotel recommendations as well.

If I was in the northern Eifel I would certainly give Monschau a wide berth. It was quite pleasant when I visited a decade ago but it has become one of those places like Bibury in the Cotswolds that is infested by daytrippers arriving by coach. They take a selfie and move on. Then it is pretty dead in the evenings.
The countryside and roads are lovely though so worth a visit.

Thanks for all your responses. I've opted to stay in the north this time. May do a loop through Vulkan Eifel and northern Luxembourg on the long way back to Calais.
Is my experience too. Full of trinket shops and cafe’s now and as you say, grokels by the bus load.

The entire area is pretty lovely. German road surfaces are rarely shite. Plenty to ride and roads choose from.
Some roads (villages you pass through) might be restricted at the weekends for motorcycle use. Look out for signs with said restrictions.
The sign above, restrict motorcycle (not mopeds also locally known as Mofa) use from midnight on Saturday until midnight on Sunday, for motorcycles above 50cc and those capable of traveling at speed above 45km/h or circa 27mp/h.
Be mindful of this and follow diversion, unless you want to speak with a man wearing a green uniform and a white cap.

You could download these routes to your device and ride them on a noisy motorcycle on weekdays
I stayed in Heimbach. After picking the rough area I was enticed by cheap accommodation on Booking. Turned out to be a lovely little spot with plenty of great roads around. I would definitely recommend the village/town and the room was fine for the price (had secure parking in a small garage on site as well) - called Eifelblümchen.Where did you stay in the end? Am a big fan of Luxembourg, Eifel and eastern Belgium now.
