Elan Valley Mid Wales 17.12.06

Yesterday Sandra, myself and a couple of friends went for a ride into Mid Wales to have a look at the Elan Valley and see if the reservoirs were full. This is what we saw.

That's power...

The noise and sight of the water cascading over the weirs of these dams is fantastic.
OK, these are only small compared to the likes of the Hoover dam, but never the less awesome spectacles.
One of the dams in this valley has a green lane running almost to it's base, and this is frightening when the weirs are in this state.

Must say it saves having to take another ride up there to check them out !!! Your right, the sound of water cascading is great.
I'm fortunate to have spent many nights camped next to major white water rapids in some very remote spots all over the World.............usually scared *******less as we were going to shoot them in kayaks next day .....................by the same token being camped by one having done the thing is equally brilliant.
Yes, the Hoover dam is terrific but the Glen Canyon dam is better at the top end of Grand Canyon............. now there's some good water .................on the mighty Colorado
