On the road after getting new treads fitted in brighton bmw to canterbury i look down and notice the magic button is missing.all that was left was the kill switch toggle.it was cold and the brain maybe wasnt functioning as best it should.i was due on the ferry to spain after the weekend but ....unable to start the beast.
a very kind lady offered me her "cuticle stick" which i broke in half and used as a plunger and it starts the bike just fine.(irony of 10000£ bike starts with a stick)
my bike is a 2009 with 58000klms on it.i was able to ride back via brighton bmw where they at first said no parts available from bmw and cost for whole new assembly is (sit down now) £140.
the guy from the workshop took my bike away and fitted a replacement button gratis.so thank you brighton for that.i am sure they felt sorry for me as i have been on the road from oz for a year now.
anyway my tip is keep a half a cuticle stick handy as the c clip inside the assembly must have just worked loose and of course you cannot see that.something i could never have prepared for but amusing and good outcome.just ridden across the pyranees and now in s.france.
vaya con dios:)
will be at the HU meet in ireland i can sell you half a stick!!
