Hi There!!

I mentioned to the dealer at the 6k service that I was getting a mechanical noise when the ignition was on, they replaced the exhaust valve, after that, the noise disappeared.

Now, 300 miles later... it's coming back. Anyone has experienced any similar problem?

Thanks!

That must the make it quieter flappy thing just before the silencer.
disconnect it and the noise will go away, you don't need it anyway.

I had my headers replaced because of that. It was done at 12k service. You could disconnect links from actuator so ECU will still register it as being present and will not raise ECU fault.

I could disconnect it, but...bike is still under warranty, and, it is a bloody expansive bike, we shouldn't disconnect anything but complain about things going wrong too soon.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

butterfly valve is pretty much for emissions. If bikes breaks down you can always re-attach it. Simples.

Ohhh is that the thing that triggers at step up in loudness at about 4000rpm?

The valve has nothing to do with reducing emissions. It's purely to reduce in-town (i.e. drive-by) noise at low revs.

If anything, it will increase emissions by acting as an unwanted source of exhaust back-pressure (it will cause a certain amount of turbulence in the exhaust stream even when fully open).
