Ok, I’ve done a quick search and it seems that it’s not an uncommon problem but I need a GS911 to try resetting any error codes and if that doesn’t solve it then it’s likely to need a new motor :blast

Am I really stuck with the option of paying a dealer to check it or buying a GS911 for myself?

Now I'm really unhappy. I decided to bite the (expensive) bullet and buy a GS911 and it's telling me that the switch for moving the screen functions when I tell it to go down but not up. Great, it's already down :blast

I suppose I need to rip the fairing apart and try to find a microswitch in the hope that there's one there and it's either worked its way loose or is obviously malfunctioning because the other options of a switch or a motor are going to make this a very expensive repair.

My old R1100RT developed the same problem where the screen would only go one way, up or down. From memory, I believe there were two identical relays, beyond the screen mechanism, which controlled the up or down movement and one had failed. Swapping the relays over would allow the screen to move in the opposite way, thus identifying the issue.
I expect the R1200RT must have a similar design. Might be worth looking into!

That’s a good idea. I’m away for a couple of weeks but it’ll be the first point to look at when I get back.

Thanks :thumb2:

Yesterday was the big day when everything would become clear and I’d have a functioning electric screen again, or it should have been the big day but wasn’t.

It took me about 1hr to get everything off so I could look for obvious faults and there was nothing I could find so realistically I need to look for a replacement motor and hope it’s not the switch (a used motor is £95) or throw it at a dealer who will charge me a lot of cash just for labour.

At the moment it’s got the lower screen fitted and I moved the position manually while the motor was off but that doesn’t mean it’s in its best position. :blast

You may find it's the handlebar switch that's the problem?
The cruise controller will be next.....
