Hi Folks
just noticed today when I turn bike on before starting, high pitched intermittent squeaky electrical noise under tank. Continues until start up. Bike starts and runs fine (its '89 R100 para). Any ideas - I've read about coils failing
Cheers

If it were me I'd take off the tank and try and locate which thing it is?

COuld be a relay not making a clean contact!

Could be quite a lot of things very hard to diagnose wothout a photo of the offending squeaky thing?

So you'll have to take off the tank and take a photo of the thing wot makes the squeak and then the "Asssembled knowledge of the forum will desscend upon your post to aid you with Avarice!"

Sorted! Get Spanners out Lad! :aidan:aidan:aidan

My Berta is also a bit of a bitch but does not do the squeeky thing as I keep her quiet by giving her a bit of a thrashing now and again, Try that..:D:D:D:D

I know exactly what you mean - I've had this on a couple of customers bikes, but it must have been more than 15 years ago so the memory is a bit fuzzy. It may have been the main relay. But i'm buggered if i can remember for sure.

Sorry folks not been back sooner - went to Le Touquet last weekend so could not look then.

Yesterday buzz was still there to start with, switch off, remove tank, sods law nothing !! Gave all relays a gentle flick, switch on/off etc. nothing

I'll get back if and when it happens again
Cheers

Take them all out and check for corrosion and if even there isn't any get the ACF50 into the connectors! Split em clean them scoot of ACF and click em together
All you can do with the relays is to clean the spades and scoot into the female spade bits, it's not really sensible to start opening them.
