Electronic trick on GS???

It will probably just be a software update whether it need a code or not I dont know but you would also need the left hand switch gear with the info button on it so you can change the display. Waste of time anyway as its completely inaccurate until it gets to the lower range of the tank anyway. Mine has currently just gone 200 miles on the trip and is telly me I still have a range of 210 to go. I know I am on borrowed time when I get to 300 miles so its about 100 miles out.

What I really want to know is if anyone has worked out how to fool the odo into displaying distance to empty at will before the bike is on reserve?

No need to *Fool* anything/anybody....use trip meter 1 to register the miles from when you fillup completely till when you need gas. Now you know the *range* of the bike. No more relying on silly inconsistent gauges. (How it was done in the olden days when bikes came without gauges n idiot lites!!!) This only takes one time to get a set number. For example 400 miles. Now when you fillup reset the #1 odometer. Anytime during the trip a quick glance at the #1 odometer and you can tell whether or not your half full (200 miles) or near needing gas at 385 miles...EZ-PeeZy.
