Hello

I need the group expertise about one topic

My R100GS has a rough compression response while off-roading when I hit big bumps. I don´t have on road complains (I’m using 10w oil left and right)

I don’t want to spend a lot o money and I don’t what to change of looks of the bike.
I found that emulators (gold valve) could be an option. This is a usual solution for road bikes but I’m not sure about off road performance…

My questions are:
-Is it worth to install on of this things?
-where to buy it?
-does anyone have a installation manual so I can have a look
-can I use them with the springs that I’m currently using (without spacers?)

thks!:beerjug:

I fitted these to my V-Max back in 2002. They are easy to fit. but you have to drill out the holes in your damper rods and reduce the size of the spring spacer (unless you want harder compression) by about ten mill.

Can't remember for sure, but I think they sit ontop of the damper rod just under the spring.

As for off roading. No I didn't take the V-Max off road  But they did make a noticable difference to the ride.

Sorry I can't offer more.

Link to discussion here. I haven't used them myself. :thumb

Hello

Does anyone know what is the reference for the Gold Valve Cartridge emulator for an R100gs?

And what is the best place to buy it?

This looks interesting it explains the different typs of dampers available for the 80/100GS forks. Emulators are half way down.

Race Tech can be found here. Search 'Street Bikes' and you will find what you want. They are in the US but will no dought give you details of how to get what you are looking for.

Didn't take long to find on Google :thumb2

Hello

Race tech I know. Is there anyone else selling these valves? Europe?

Race Tech are the people who make them. They will tell you who in your area sells them :thumb2 They might even send you them direct, which could well be cheeper for you.
