I want to buy an end can for my 09 GS, Could someone tell me if I buy an end can other than Akraprovic (which the dealer has), will it affect my warranty. :nenau

I've had lots of warranty work done on my Remus equipped bike. Nothing ever said.

BMW dealers recommend Akro cans!!!:thumb2

leave the standard end can on and get headers, they're around the same price but as well as turning the volume up also remove the cat and give a bit more power,do a youtube search for the noise:thumb

Got BOS End can on mine, no problem with warranty through Vines

Don't buy an Akra.

BMW and Akra are taking the piss on the price of their cans. How the hell they can justify it is beyond me.:eek:

As said above go the headers route and loose the CAT

Buy an Apraprovic

I would recomend the Apraprovic, it really does make a differance, I also de-cated the origianl headers too and the pair work so well together I am sure Apraprovic did their home work.
You will also not believe how much lighter it is too.:)

As for price look out for one second hand as many are part-exing and sell off the can first, got mine for £250 looks like new after a fair bit of polishing.

Quill Evo 2 Titanium...Awesome :thumb

I had the same dilemma when I bought my GSA last July and had a discussion with my dealer.

If something goes wrong with the engine, for example a fueling problem, if you have a non standard end can the dealer will blame the problem on your mod.

Clearly if the problem is not in any way associated with the exhaust e.g. faulty paint, I doubt the delater would try and blame the end can.

I ended up buying the BMW Akropovic. Actually the price wasn't so bad for what it is i.e Titanium. I got 10% of the BMW list as part of the new bike deal. The price them worked out cheaper than the same can from Nippy Normans (and no postage to pay).

To be honest I bought it for a bit more noise. Unless you take the baffle it I would say it was queiter than standard and I didn't notice any performance difference either. With the baffle out the bike also needs a touch more throttle to prevent the motor stalling from take of so thats another down side.

You pays your money you take your chance!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure I recognise that can from last Tuesday...

I looked at Quill afterwards, they don't list a system for my bike - would it just be a link pipe and off the shelf can job?

Yup...:thumb2

i did this and was amazed. was also told by a BMW service guy that this is the first thing to do, and replace air filter with K&N

what?? bmw guy told you to do this????

ha ha go for it,

heres the thing, bmw design the 1200 to run lean, this is it pass the emission laws,

you then free flow the exhaust, and the air filter,

hey presto the bike runs dangerously lean, holed pistons etc etc

no wonder mr bmw told you to do it, they get the repair bills:thumb2 thank you very much numpty

I asked this question when bought my '09 12gs last June.
"As long as it's a road legal one, no it won't affect the warranty."
A Remus Ti was purchased and fitted. Sounded great (I left the baffle in) and not too noisy, even after 9/10 hours on the bike. Not sure about any performance increase but I was only after the extra noise to be truthful.
You know how it is.........boys and their toys.

i bought an akra can from here, would i do it again... probably not i dont see/feel any benefit except it looks nice and with the baffle out the engine is gutless....

I wouldn't change to a K&N. Expensive, pointless and will lean the motor out.

Stick with changing the end can and although this won't give you much performance hike it will sound good :D

De catted headers are the way forward if you want a performance boost
