End of an era.

Just a short note to say farewell and thankyou to Tim Angus of Coopers Reading.
On Friday 14th Jan, Tim left his showroom for the last time to take on challenges new after a long term of duty at Coopers.

I personally would just like to say a big thankyou to Tim for all the years of service he has given me, my friends and family.
His knowledge of the bikes has been amazing, the speed in which he's been able to source spares, second to none, and his over all level of professionism, friendly help and advice, always a pleasure to deal with.

Cheers Tim, and good luck with your new ventures. Hopefully we'll see something of you out on the roads on your Bumble Bee.

What is he going to do now?

And who is running the bike bit at Coopers now, assuming that they are planning to carry on doing bikes. Always appeared to be the poor relations, tucked away in a tiny space.

I believe Tim's now doing some logistics management for an IT company (see Reading FC sponsor for details).

Mike Cameron has taken over from Tim. Apparently Mike's also a top MC Journo, having done lots of articles in various MC mags on long-term ownership reports (including the GS Adventure), long-distance overland rides, and off-road activities. Well worth talking with!

Indeed, Mike Cameron has taken over from Tim.

Mike certainly knows his stuff and has been with Coopers since well before Xmas learning the ropes from Tim to get upto speed prior to Tim's departure.

Comes across as a very nice all round bloke who is very switched on in all areas of the biking world.
Certainly well worth popping into say hi and have a natter with.

A very true comment though about the bike side of Coopers sadly being tucked away from view. Hopefully things will change and they will get a larger spot at some point. It is a very good set up, even if small, and the knowledge and expertise levels out front with Mike, and behind the scenes with, Tony and Matt are superb.
Had my bikes serviced there regularly, and always a first rate job is applied to them.

If I need something I either go to Coopers or SPC, although I must admit I did not get on that well with Tim.

The service work they did was fine, and the mechanic I met, don't know his name, knew his stuff and was helpful.

I will go and see the new chap when I next need something, probably a service kit, and then get them to do the stuff I don't like doing - like the bleedin brakes!
