TWO FANTASTIC OFFERS ONE FANTASTIC BIKE

I best hide this offer from my Brother in Law who took delivery of a new 1190 Adventure 30 days ago :blast

i'm consoling myself with the thought that i've used mine through one of the best summers in recent memory.

sniff.

How to keep existing customers happy, and wipe a few grand off second hand values.:blast

yes, i always got near back what i paid at bmw dealers at trade in time

he'll have trouble shifting that now.

i'm new to KTM, but it's always seemed to me that resale value was not their strong suit. TBH this price cutting has not come as a surprise to me. i bought in May and got a big chunk off retail.

It all depends if you intend keeping your bikes or not I guess.

I've heard it said that some WMB owners change their bikes virtually every year for the next must have variant, probably something to do with searching for that elusive 'perfect bike' :nenau

Of course, as we all know they're barking up the wrong tree, the answer is simple, just go Orange :P

That's a crap argument. If you buy a brand new bike, then the manufacturer knocks a few grand off the same model, regardless of whether you're selling in the next few months or years, you're still going to be pissed off.

We all know that I change my bikes regularly, but only because I buy at a discounted price, then sell to the dealer offering the best deal. Buy and sell smart, and the GS doesn't lose anywhere near as much as some on here will have you believe.:thumb

The cost to change is all I care about :D

Maybe and I sort of understand where you're coming from but, for me, there has never been anything rational about buying or riding bikes so I don't 'get' what you're saying at all.

I can honestly say that in my 35 years of riding bikes that the idea of residuals, discounts, balloons or buy backs have not even I had a look in - if I like the bike and the money's in my pocket I buy - I guess you'll think 'more fool him' and you could be right..................... I couldn't care less about residuals, it's the ride that matters :)

And that is the correct answer :)

+1 :aidan

The last year has been a blast on my 1190. I've done more miles (double, in fact) on this bike than the last several over that year. As I don't have a crystal ball to help me see into the future, it doesn't worry me one jot about what deals will possibly come up, nor do I worry about residuals any more after my BM stealer wanting to rape me over my GS. They all lose money, and if you are worried so much about residuals, maybe you should be delving into the stocks and shares in the Financial Times.

But at least Jim is gentle, Davy

Triumph also used to (may still do) have late season sales, that compromised early buyers

Fortunately BMW don't use the same drastic tactics

IIRC, BM were punting out GS's a while back with free panniers etc. I think there was a load of unhappy punters on here gurning about it.

Free accessories?

So do KTM

So do Triumph

So do Honda

However BMW never drop the RRP, in a publicised campaign like those 3 have done

That's the difference

R12 GS Rallye used, are the same price as they were new - 2 years later

You will never see that with a Cross Tourer, Explorer & 1190R

BMW Motorrad are the best in the business at marketing & profit engineering - unlike the others

First drop in sales/unsold stock & the others are slashing prices right, left & centre which canes the early buyer

Been there with Triumph in the past, never again

Unfortunately you re dead right as I found out from first hand experience.....I aso didn't care about the residuals till it came to the crunch , and I change my bike regularly also. I wont buy a new KTM again that's for certain for that reason.

I also wish I had done my 8000 KTM miles this summer on the multistrada I bought
