Hi There ,I wondered if any of you lot have done Enduro India? I was on this years trip and it really is AMAZING!! Once you get over the traffic Madness and the TATA trucks trying to kill you its fantastic. The bikes are Enfield 350,s and are well up for the job.The roads are dreadfull at times but the old Bullits love it!! My GS would be too big and unfixable out there where a bullit can be fixed at the side of the road.I seized mine in temperatures of 45degees C ,cost for a new barrel piston and pin.............£10!!! Its a well organised event with good support and dispite many crashes no serious injuries.I liked it so much I,m off to the Himalayas next year which I am told is an even mor humbling place !! Check out Enduroindia.com it may well change your life!!

Sounds Good. Never been to the Himalayas on a bike but went there trekking some years back.......very humbling, it lets you know just how lucky we are in the west. :thumb

You will probably meet some of the nicest people ever, that own practically nothing. Let us know how you get on. Enjoy :clap

we spent a month on the back of a bullet 500, from manali to Leh (and back) from leh, we made trips to Nubra over the highest pass in the world, Pangong lake, lamayuru, where our gear box fell apart. That caused us to return and not make a loop tru Kashmir.

Just fabulous. The scenery changes every mile, the people are the friendliest, and India is always gonna be an adventure. Ladakhi culture is very rich, so there's far more to see than a high rocky desert. The Manali-Leh highway is definately is a once in a lifetime experience for bike enthousiast. it varies from bad, to nonexistant to flooded riverbeds to deliriously winding along valleys and up steep mountains.

When they see you're a western tourist, ten rows of white teeth appear from the inside of any Tata truck.

The Enfield isn't much for a reliable motorbike, but it's good fun and sounds great. We were rather jealous of NamasteBuzz's 1100GS and cursed everyday for not being able to ride our 650GS... In about 1500km the bike's front brake seized, the gear box crumbled, the lights died, the battery dried, all spokes rattled loose enough to blow in the wind, and it wouldn't start at random moments. But that all stories now.

Enduro Himalaya

Hi

I have just been on the recce trip for a forthcoming Enduro Himalaya that is hoped to run in 2008. Fabulous adventure but not for a novice as the roads are often very rough with sheer drops!

Cheers

Quentin

I rode a 500 Enfield on a Ferris Wheels tour a few years ago: India and Nepal - absolutely brilliant! The bike is totally suited to that part of the world and was pretty much (ahem) Bulletproof. Food was great, beer excellent (Try Hit beer in Sikkim - 8%...) and the people are great. I'm going back again next year to ride the highest pass in the world at a suitable relaxed Enfield pace. Try it, you'll love it :thumb
