Planning on going to this - can anyone advise on a good place to view / leave the bikes / eat well and be merry?
Rather looking forward to it so any tips to make it better are very welcome

Le Touquet

I stayed in Le Touquet last year on a motorbike trip, our last night in France, we were looking for a camp site and as it was late we only found a 'private' site on a Farm on the outskirts, can't recall the location. 15 minute walk to the town, but what I remember, there were numerous (mostly if not all) seafood restaurants, all looked excellent judging by the fact they were all full, mind you it was a Saturday night!

I'm sur you will enjoy.

Don't spectate in an area that looks to be a good view next to the beach but is completely lacking in spectators.
It's obvious really but you may not realise until the bikes have gone past and then you are covered in sand.
And the sand hurts when it hits you as well.
Get there early to get a good place to view as it gets very, very busy.
It's good to watch them all leave the parc ferme to go to the start but that makes getting a good place to watch a little more difficult as they'll be rather a lot of spectators in place by then.
Can't advise on anything else as as we travelled by train and then got a local bus from, and back to, the railway station.

I went a few times back in the eighties and it was bad enough, and they say it's got worse since.

Went 4 years or so ago and it was great! Packed, yes but there's still plenty of places to watch from. I've never seen so many bikes in one place.

Follow the crowd, been several times, great weekend.

You might be able to park the bikes on the front, we always parked and stayed at the Holiday Inn express and walked in. Only a ten min walk.

Lot of decent food and beer in the town, as others have said, great to watch the bikes come through the town, also to see over a thousand bikes start at the same time yeeee haaaaa!

Just had a peek on youtube, does look busy. Being so close to the tunnel it'll be no drama if it's rammed, can always have a rideout instead. Cheers

I'm also heading to Le Touquet that weekend as i have done for the last five years. The place will be rammed full on the Sunday so parking is basically any spot you can find. We are going by car so will probably park at the airport and get the free bus into town. Loads of good bars near the sea front, we usually use either the Cafe Leffe or Jeans bar on the Rue saint Jean.

Also leave plenty of time to get in on the Sunday, we always go by car and it takes 2-3 hours to get into town.

Just watch out Saturday night, since the crowd is very rowdy and drunk. Lots of fights and petty theft, since many of the folks aren't bikers but people from the North looking to get drunk and fight.

Camping as off last year is in official areas now, no wild camping. If you don't arrive early, you'll need to park outside and take the bus shuttle (airport). Apart from Le Touquet, you can also go to Stella beach, calmer and a bit easier. That's where the race turns to head back to Le Touquet.
