Im looking at buying a set of H+D engine plus crash bars.
Trouble is the picture is not very clear on the web site.
Wondered if anyone has a better pic or better still can tell me if they look ok on the 1200GS.

I also need some auxillary lights to fit to them and same again, the pic is a little small of the lights that H+D can supply. They look really small, Has anyone seen them or should I go for a different make completely for the lights.

(I will make all my lights HID when funds allow)
Thanks.

I have both sets of bars on my 12, uppers and lowers. Afraid I don't have any pics, and probably couldn't load them up if I did :o

IMHO they look great, set the bike off well with the TKC's and plenty of dirt.
The lower engine bars fit very well and allow the rocker covers to be removed for servicing. The bike has been dropped six times :augie but only ever at a standstill. The bars have done exactly what they are there for, absolutely no other damage :thumb2.

The upper bars are a bit fiddly to fix at the top (I cut the bolts a bit shorter) But are very firm once fixed. You will need to remove them for servicing.

Lights:

I'm planning to mount lights on them. Fogs below and spots above.
This may well have to change though as space above is limited unless your happy to have the top set sticking out the side. I want my lights to be protected by the bars (for the next time the thing goes down) as the 12 tends to role right over on the lower H&Bs when dropped.

You mention HiD conversion. Have you talked to Les Wessell? 50w HiD for the 12 is £139.00 plus P&P as I understand it (I'm still unsure as to the point of HiDifying a light that doesn't point in the right direction in the first place :nenau )

Times that by three as you will have six lights, and the sun springs to mind  .

I understand that HiDing lights can be a pain if you don't choose the right ones in first place. Les tells me that the HELLA Micro DEs (They'll fit below the upper bars nicely) and the HELLA FF50s (May not fit on top of the upper bars at all. Too wide I think, but I'll find out soon when mine arrive. So they may end up on the lower bars instead) are the best suited. It all depends on how deep the light is in order to fit the longer HiD bulb.

Val.

Thanks for that. I have got myself some and they are perfect! Cost was around £200 delivered.
It now only needs HID's. e-mailed les and never got a reply:(. Anywhere else to get HID's from?

I modified the crossbars brackets to fit the other way round (bentt them in a vice)then ground the bolts off. The other way (designed way) was stupid.

The mounts are already on for spotts, cool!

How easy were the engine bars to install?

Anyone kno will those (what look like mounts) fit a pair of Hella Micros?

The engine bars are piss easy to fit.
The hole pattern is for their own mini spotts but any spotts would fit easily including Hella with the most modification being 1 hole to drill.

Plenty of space for Micro DEs underneath, but not on top.

You could PM Les, He usualy spots these postings so he might be away :nenau

Have you looked at his website? www.hid50.com ?

I wouldn't look anywhere else for HiDs as they're mostly only the 35w variety.

I have a pair of Les's HID'd Micro DE's on my 650, trading up to a 1200 in about six weeks and will most likely bring the lights with me as they are without doubt excellent. Might get the main headlight done too. :D
