Anyone on here who has suffered even the most minimal corrosion to their w/c engine should read this. I bought a 2014 ex demo bike 6 months ago and pointed out some minor corrosion in the usual places recently. Within a week BMW had offered a complete replacement motor which I have just had fitted. Unbelievably good customer care. If you have any and you're still in warranty, don't hesitate!

Same as, had one or two white spots around tgat weep hole in the side of engine, took photos and bmw said new engine... Got it in writing and gonna get it done in September when it suits me better. 13 plate with no warranty, "good will" they said!

My buddy was the same with a 14 plate.

Already on my 3rd engine, have had so many parts replaced. I've called the bike 'Triggers Broom' :blast

Same issue with mine. (14 plate GS TE ).
Got BMW to knock off 2k of anything in the showroom.
Left with a 15 plate GSA with 3k on the clock.

Result !

The warranty on my Guzzi is shit , Piaggio group are a nightmare to deal with on claims so I've heard .

Of course my bike is corrosion free after 7 yrs and 20k miles and I've never needed to claim for anything covered under warranty . :augie

I'd really like another GS (having had an 1100,1150 & 1200 )but my toy fund doesn't stretch to one new enough to be in warranty:(

Where does the engine suffer the most corrosion?

from the dark side this was sent

My corrosion was where the cylinder head meets the engine block. The paint was bubbling off the engine side of the joint on both sides of the bike.

Who did you send the photos to? Local dealer or bmw?

I just mentioned it to Allan Jefferies when I dropped the bike off for the 12500 mile service. Dan, the guy who works on the service desk, took the photos and also went over the bike with a fine tooth comb as it was almost out of warranty. He also found corrosion on the bevel gear housing and drive shaft and got the replacement approved by BMW within a few days :beerjug:

I've just taken delivery of a 10 month GSA which whilst cleaning it came across possibly slight bubbling under the top screw that holds the paddle. Front spokes have surface rust. I must have a more in-depth look. Where in particular should I look please Gents. I bought the bike unseen other than on a video from dealer claimed as immaculate. Mt Tenere I sent over was immaculate this is not. Why?

Surely all the wheel components are stainless steel? I found what looked like rust in the adjusting nuts on the spokes around the rim. So if they are stainless then it cant be rust can it??

Mine has its 12k service this week and is a September 13 bike and is still under extended warranty; I'm hope for a positive outcome when BMW see the corrosion on mine.

Would anyone who experienced corrosion want to put some pics up?

For spoked wheels they aren't stainless, at least not on my 2015 gs. If a magnet sticks to them they aren't stainless. Also stainless is not very good for spokes a bit to 'brittle', basically not suitable for use in a wheel unless they are of a very heavy guage.
