Engine corrosion

My lad has a 650Gs Oct 04 8000mls, which he looks after extremly well with frequent washing and scottoil spray after each ride. Despite this a great deal of paint is flaking off with corrosion of crankcase parts mostly to lower front of engine the rest of bike frame,engine etc is great.
He took bike back to dealer as still under warranty, dealer took pictures and sent them to BMW who came back with problem being customer not looking after bike properly!
How many others have had this ? any info would be appreciated

LOTS OF US!! BMW basically said get stuffed when I tried to get them to sort it, decided in the end it is easier to paint the engine myself, especially as their solution is to strip the engine, and replace the covers which many people report has caused more problems. There's more advice on here if you search for it, if your up to the fight you could argue that however it's looked after it should last the warranty period or be repaired, after all there's nothing in the handbook about washing with distilled water and using some magical spray rust restraining stuff!

I have a 2003 GS Model and so far (...crossing fingers ) I have not experienced this problem.

My bike has a little over 22k Kilometers on the clock. It's always been kept inside and not been used for off-road, yet. Never been power washed nor been taken care with any spray.
I am hoping this problem won't show, as I am not too hopeful into BMW customer care.
In my opinion, despite BMW's are very expensive products, in case of something wrong I have a feeling you end up on your own

Could be he is washing it too much with the wrong products or a jetwash.

If the shampoo contains a lot of salt, as many car generic products do, he is effectively giving it a week in bad winter weather everytime he washes it.

Jet washes as well are notorious gfor lifting bad paint finishes.

Just ride it every day and wash it quarterly... works for me
