I've acquired an XCountry that has spent the last couple of years being dropped on the Welsh countryside, and so has a few bits of paint missing on the engine covers.

What is the best paint to use to tidy it up a bit - the engine covers are black, well except for the silver bits of bare metal.

I just used Halfords gloss black engine enamel, it worked on air cooled heads and hasnt peeled yet, probably see you on the X in Reading soon, graet bike.

Used the matt black Halfords, dried off with a heatgun, looks fine, will see how durable it is, but I've got most of a tin left if I need it.

It is a good bike, still struggling a bit with finding the neutral, fiddly gearbox, but it's a hoot to ride on minor roads. Not tried high speed on straight roads yet, but I suspect I will be thinking about windscreens if I want to do much of that, although I'd probably use the 1200 for longer trips anyway. Doubt the seat is much fun for more than an hour or two either.

Have a look @ Micky's in the What have you done to your bike thread, all bases are covered

Yes, quite like the idea of taking mine to that tuning guy he used, sounds a good investment, although I don't know the actual cost. Not this year though, need to get some more business in to pay for bike bling.
