I've read through the thread started by Norm but my problems is different.

Over the last 2 months or so I've had apparently random engine cut outs each occurance last probably less than a second and the only thing I can spot in common is that it happens when I have been riding at a high speed for a few minutes or once or twice when accelerating hardish. Its rather unnerving and tends to cause a bit of a wobble as I go from near full power to no power and back again. It repeats unpredictably if I continue to ride with the same level of enthusiasm but if I reduce speed the problem doesnt reoccur.

The bike is an '06 1200 GS with just about 16k on it. It feels like an electrical problem rather than fuel or FPC related as I'd expect a fuel related problem onset and recovery to be much slower.

Does anybody recognise the symptoms or can anyone suggest a good place to start testing with a multimeter etc?

the fpc fault is an electrical prob,as when this stops fuel pressure will drop and engine cut out,if you havnt bypassed it or tried a new one it shuld be your first port of call imo.

Yeah I was begining to think FPC but it looks OK (no corrosion) but is the original silver one. Having not had an Fuel failure on a Fuel injected bike before my only experience is with carbs so a fuel problem usually starts with some spluttering before dying. This is so instantaneous in both onset and recovery that feels like the cut out switch is being flicked on and off (I've checked that and it appears OK)

tbh in the absence of a diagnostic tool its the first thing to change,if its not that then youy have a spare as if its an early one it will prob fail at some point.
